LESSON TWELVE - 14/06/2020
Hi Parents & Carers,
Welcome to Kidzone online. Today we begin a new series called “Under Construction.” Construction sites are exciting places, filled with interesting, heavy machinery and abuzz with noise and activity. When we accept Jesus, God begins a good work in us. We become the construction site where God is building something amazing! The objective of this series is that kids will learn that God is working in the hearts of those who follow Jesus. There are eight lessons in this series. Hope you enjoy it.
Bottom Line: God wants us to stick to His plans, not our own.
Objective: Kids will learn that our plans will fail when we leave God out.
Memory Verse: “If the Lord doesn’t build a house, the work of the builders is useless.” Psalm 127:1a (NIrV)
Scripture to read: Genesis 11:1-9, The Tower of Babel
Summary: Before starting construction of a building, you have to get permission to build. If you just start building anywhere you want, you’ll probably run into a lot of trouble. Once, the people of earth thought that nothing could stop them from being like God. They started to build a tower to heaven to prove it; but they soon discovered that God was more powerful than their plans.
Activity: Have the kids make a “license” to follow God they can stick in their wallets. You can use the included templates or create your own. If possible, have them glue actual tiny photos of themselves on the licenses, but if not, the kids can draw in a self-portrait.
Make this week’s lesson real: What are the rules in your house about asking permission? Ask your kids to list the things they must ask permission to do, then share with them the things that you as an adult, as a driver, as a worker, etc. must ask permission to do. Ask your kids why having God’s permission is so important.
Here are some great discussion starters:
- Why was God upset at the people building the tower of Babel?
- Why did God confuse the people’s languages?
- How can we know that the things we are doing are approved by God?
Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse.
Help us to seek your will and follow your plans. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!
