LESSON SEVENTEEN 19/07/2020
Hi Parents & Carers,
Welcome to Kidzone online. Today’s lesson is called “Hammer and Nails”. Following God and completing the challenges He gives us requires perseverance. God doesn’t want us to get discouraged and give up. If we pray for strength, God will give it to us, and He will help us finish the task at hand!
Bottom Line: God can help us to overcome any obstacle.
Objective: Kids will learn that when we face obstacles, God’s Spirit gives us the strength to keep going.
Memory Verse: “If the Lord doesn’t build a house, the work of the builders is useless.” Psalm 127:1a (NIrV)
Scripture to read: Nehemiah 4, Nehemiah Faces Opposition
Summary: Cement is made from special rock, clay, water and other materials all joined together in a cement mixer. The crowd at Pentecost was filled with many different people from different places. But when Peter shared the good news of Jesus, many of them believed. God mixed them all together to create the first church.
Activity: Have the kids trace, cut out, and colour a hammer from a piece of paper or construction paper. On the handle of the hammer, have the kids write, “God will give me strength!” There are quite a few you can choose from to print from the internet.
Make this week’s lesson real: Is there an unfinished project at home? Ask your kids to help, and see if you can knock that challenge out this week. Pray, if you need to, for the strength to finish the job!
Here are some great discussion starters:
- What obstacles did Nehemiah face in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem?
- How did Nehemiah and the Israelites overcome these obstacles?
- Where can we find strength when we need it to overcome our challenges in life?
Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse.
Give us strength when we need it most. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!
