LESSON TWENTY ONE 16/08/2020
Welcome to Kidzone. Today we continue with the series “How to Train Your Emotions” and the topic is Fear. Fears can be very real and scary for children, but no matter what our fears may be, we can remember God is in control. We can give God our fears, and He will give us peace. Pray about your fears and theirs this week with your kids, and remind each other that God is still in control.
Bottom Line:We don’t have to fear; God is in control
Objective: Kids will learn “When I’m afraid, I will remember God is in control.”
Memory Verse: “I will be glad and full of joy because of you. Most High God, I will sing the praises of your name.” Psalm 9:2 (NIrV)
Scripture to read: Luke 8:22-25, Jesus calms the Storm
Summary: When the storm hit, Jesus’ disciples let their fear overpower them. Then Jesus showed them that he is in control, and he stopped the storm. In times when we are afraid, we can tame our fear by turning to Jesus and remembering that he is in control.
Activity: Have the kids draw, colour, and cut out Viking ships to remind them of today’s story. They can make their own or use the included colouring page.
Make this week’s lesson real: Talk to your child about situations that make them feel fearful. Then ask them what they can do when they feel afraid to calm their fears.
Here are some great discussion starters:
- What did Jesus do when the disciples were afraid they would drown?
- What are some things you fear? (Go around the table and let everyone answer.)
- How can we relieve our fears by remembering that god is in control?
Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse.
Help us remember that You are always in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!
