LESSON TWENTY TWO 23/08/2020
Welcome to Kidzone. Today we continue with the series “How to Train Your Emotions” and the topic is Sadness. When we are sad, we need to remember God’s love. God will always be by our side when we are sad. Encourage your kids to pray when they feel sad. Remind them that God is always by their side.
Bottom Line:God's love will ease our sadness.
Objective: Kids will learn “When I’m sad, I will remember God’s love.”
Memory Verse: “I will be glad and full of joy because of you. Most High God, I will sing the praises of your name.” Psalm 9:2 (NIrV)
Scripture to read: John 11:17-44, Jesus Raises Lazarus
Summary: When Lazarus died, his sisters and all of his friends were very sad. When Jesus came to see them, he shared in their sadness. Jesus showed us that it is not wrong to feel sad, as even he wept in this story. But Jesus showed that you can be sad and still have peace if your hope is in God. He turned their sadness to joy, when he raised Lazarus back from the dead. In times of sadness, Jesus is with us, and he can give us peace and turn our sadness into joy.
Activity: Have the kids make finger puppets of Lazarus and Jesus to act out today’s Bible story. You can use cut out clip art, or let the kids draw and cut out their own Jesus and Lazarus. Cut strips of construction paper and tape them into loops big enough to fit on the children’s fingers.
Make this week’s lesson real: When your kids are sad this week, listen to them, and pray with them. Ask God to comfort them, and thank Him for His love.
Here are some great discussion starters:
- Why was everyone sad about Lazarus?
- How did Jesus take away their sadness?
- How can remembering God’s love help us with our sadness?
Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse.
Help us remember your love when we feel sad. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!
