LESSON THIRTY 18/10/2020

Welcome to Kidzone. Today we continue with the series called “The Parables of Jesus.” Today’s lesson is called “The Talents”. Jesus has given us all unique talents and abilities and a part to play in the family of God. Ask God to reveal to your kids (and to you!) the talents He wants used for His glory.

Bottom Line: Do your best with the talents God gave you.

Objective:  Kids will identify gifts, talents, or abilities they have been given and state how they can use those for God.

Memory Verse: “Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears should listen.’” Mark 4:9 (NIrV)

Scripture to read: Matthew 25:14-30, The Parable of the Talents/Bags of Gold

Prep – 4 (4-9yrs old)

What did the master give to his servants?

What did the servants do with the talents?

Which of the servants were rewarded?

What are some talents God has given you?

Can you think of some ways we can use the talents we have for God?

5 – 6 (10-12 yrs old)

Why was the master pleased with two servants and upset with the third?

What does God expect us to do with our talents?

Does it matter how big our talents are or how many we have? Why or why not?

Have you discovered any of your talents?

What are some things you can do for God with those talents?

In this lesson kids will learn that it is not God’s plan for us to compare ourselves to others, but instead we need to try to do our best with what God has given us. God is not as concerned with how much or how little you have as much as He is concerned with how faithful and obedient you are with what you do have.

Activity: Give each child a bag and some coin-shaped pieces of construction paper. Have them write some of their talents on those papers and put them in the bag to take home. Encourage the kids to pray over those talents and ask God how they can put them to work for Jesus.

Weekly Tasks:

Make this week’s lesson real:

Talk with your kids about the unique gifts you and your children have. What special talents do each of you have that no one else in the family shares? Discuss what you can do as individuals and as a family to serve God with those gifts.

Here are some great discussion starters:

- What did the three servants in the parable do with the talents they were given?

- Why doesn’t God want us to get upset or jealous about the talents other people have?

- What can you do with the talents God has given you?

Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse.

Dear God,

Thank you for the gifts you have given each of us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!
