LESSON NINE - 24/05/2020
Hi Parents & Carers,
Welcome to Kidzone online. This Sunday we continue with our – “Dive In” curriculum. If your child starts a Bible reading habit at this age, it is much more likely to stay with them for life. Pray for them as you read together this week and next, and always encourage them to read and ask questions.
Bottom Line: We need to read the Bible every day.
Objective: Kids will make a commitment to read the Bible every day for the next 14 days.
Memory Verse: Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is like a lamp that shows me the way. It is like a light that guides me.” (NIrV)
Scripture to read: Acts 2:42-47, The Fellowship of the Believers
Summary: It’s good to plan and prepare, but at some point you just have to jump in the water and start swimming. The early church didn’t waste much time before they started making prayer and Bible study a regular part of their life. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to prayer, and they met in the temple courtyard every day. Studying the Word of God coupled with prayer should become a habit that we practice every day, starting right now.
Activity: Create a handout with 14 days worth of scripture readings and two questions each. You can use the included list or create your own, if you have some specific passages and questions you would like to use.
Make this week’s lesson real: This week and next, make a concerted effort to meet with your child each day in the same place to read the Bible. Open with a short prayer, read the daily scriptures, and ask and answer the written questions, plus any other questions that arise.
Here are some great discussion starters:
- How often did the early church meet together?
- Why was it important for them to meet every day?
- How are you enjoying your daily Bible reading time?
Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse.
Teach us to hide Your Word in our hearts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for your support and may God bless you all!
